In this course, students have the opportunity to push their participation skills in a fun dynamic way. Teaching Karate basics while engaging in simple games that build balance, hand eye coordination and confidence.

THE FULL STORY

Chito-Ryu is a traditional Japanese style of Karate. It offers self defense training as well as excellent physical conditioning. The students develop a greater sense of self-confidence, focus and learn to respect themselves and others. The karate classes are fun and interactive; no special athletic ability or skill is required. Chito-Ryu can be practiced by anyone that has the motivation to improve themselves. Our style develops a well rounded fighter. It teaches striking, blocking, throws, joint locks, offensive and defensive attacks as well as rolls and break falls. We also offer a strong sport karate opportunity through Karate Manitoba, there's no limit to how far you can take the competition side of the art.
Sensei Alex
Alex Jay Hamm is the lead instructor at the Winnipeg Chito-Ryu Karate School.
Both Alex & his brother Adam joined Chito-Ryu Karate in 1991 in Calgary Alberta. And with much support from their father and their amazing team of instructors, they trained diligently for ten years granting them both black belts at some of the youngest ages in the style. Alex being 16 at the time and Adam being 18.
Since then the brothers made the move to Winnipeg Manitoba where their goal is to maintain the same ambition and training expertise that was instilled in them from the Calgary Chito-Ryu club.
Alex strongly believes in the respect and honor principles that this style teaches.
As well he is an enthusiast of sport karate, and real world practical use of techniques.
He'll insure you'll have a well rounded education that is both peaceful yet practical and strong yet controlled.

Winnipeg Chito-Ryu Karate offers many opportunities for its students to compete in sport Karate. We are proud members of Karate Manitoba, Karate Canada and the World Karate Federation. Which in turn opens doors for our students to compete on a provincial, national and world level.
